ABOUT

Welcome to the Dorste Renovations and Handyman Service website.

My name is Michael "Mike" Dorste, it would be my pleasure to help you with your handyman and renovation projects. Since childhood I have loved building things. At age 7, I made a  tall tapered three candle holder with a piece of our firewood and drill press I had watched my Dad use for years. I wasn't allowed in the workshop without one of my parents for a month. I grew up in the state of Indiana during the 70's, many things were different then. I was taught how to cut dovetail joints with nothing more than a razor sharp chisel and a protractor by my father. He enjoyed hand crafting long rifles, mainly flint lock in the Kentucky Long Rifle style. I'd watch as a single 4 inch by 8 inch by 8 foot block of the hardwood he had hand chosen for its grain would, in a few very long months, become a work of art. I would sit on the steps behind him at first and then on a stool next to him and learn what each tool did and how it was to be used and cared for properly. "A lot can be said by the way a man keeps his tools" he'd say as he swiped the chisel down the leather strap to put it away for the night.

I rode the bulldozer, carried stone for the fireplace, pulled wire for the electric with the contractor and my father as the house I'd be raised in was built. Construction sites have always been a comfortable place for me.

Most handymen forget that once they are gone, you have to live with their work every day. Regardless of the task, I want to complete it to your satisfaction and maintain contact to ensure there are no problems after completion. I will stand behind my work.

Your input is my most valued tool! I want your project to be everything you envisioned. The best way to be sure that is the result is an open, honest line of communication between us. Keeping you up to date on the progress of your project eliminates the anxiety of "when is he going to finish". With proper planning and communication between us, your project will be completed before you know it.

This is your piece of Texas, your home, you chose it after a search for just the right one. Doesn't it deserve someone as committed to it as you are? I CAN HELP.
